At what age would you recommend youth athletes graduate from HTKC Youth?
This is a tough question to answer and one that really does depend on an athlete’s physical maturity, movement quality, and ability to follow a more intricate and built out program. We typically find that this occurs at around age 14, as an athlete’s body will be undergoing physical changes that will most likely demand a more intricate and built out program for continued development. Bodyweight lifts and lighter exercises will most likely not allow the body to enter periods of supercompensation and throwing demands will likely increase as an athlete enters HS.
To accommodate these changes, we recommend moving onto Online Pitching or Hacking the Kinetic Chain so that your athlete can segway onto more specific programming based on their evolving training needs. Both options will have slightly more demanding throwing and lifting programming, which is important to avoid undertraining at higher levels and to give your body the necessary stimuli it needs for continued growth.
